Cheryl Ward

Cheryl’s working career has always been in the world of finance but these days her involvement as a director of an pension industry institute allows her the time to spend more time on her passion – property investment – on her own and with the Royal Greens Investment Club portfolios. From 2021, her focus has shifted to the UK property market in England, Wales and Scotland.

Cheryl is an Aloe Ferox product distributor and also involved a few start up venturers growing microgreens, making picture frames and framing pieces of art and making and restoring furniture.

There is still time for some fun – weekly lunch with family and friends and making trips to the beautiful corners of South Africa.

Felicity Wilkins

Having spent 33 years with the SABC in broadcasting and advertising, Felicity’s focus is now firmly on new ventures.

Afrisado is her new brand, celebrating the art of open fire slow cooking.

She is also following her entrepreneurial interests in the steel, furniture and timber products industries.

Her newest venture is the launching of a local commercial community radio station and Mtiba Media.

Property continues to be part of her long term investment plans and moving to the UK property market is planned for 2022.

Pam Maybery

Pam has every golfer’s dream job – she is the General Manager of a beautiful golf course in Kwa-Zulu Natal!

Pam studied marketing and administration at Natal Technicon and worked at Royal Durban GC, before joining Kloof CC, 11 years ago. Pam is the only CMASA certified General Manager in KZN, kindly offering her time to mentor club managers and helping them achieve their accreditation with CMASA. As a former provincial golfer, Pam understands that expert course management and customer service are essential ingredients to running a successful club.

Outside of golf Pam has a keen interest in wildlife and visits the Kruger Park and other reserves every year. As part of her retirement funding plans, property investment and renovation take up some of her leisure time – that’s when she isn’t playing league or competition golf.

Amanda Pearson

Amanda and Garth arrived in Durban with the 1987 floods.

They had left Gauteng to start a new life in KZN, with Garth having secured the position of Golf Pro at Royal Durban Golf Club. For the next 35 years they worked hard at the business of running the Pro Shop at RDGC and fulfilling the duties of the Club Professional, raising their 2 children and Amanda also working on her own career at various local companies.

After their son and daughter completed their schooling, both were talented enough to be awarded golf scholarships to the USA where they have both settled. Trips to the US for ‘Granny and Granpa’ are extra special now with the arrival of little Henry.

The beautiful town of Still Bay in the Western Cape is where Amanda and Garth have chosen to retire and Amanda has the time now to continue with her love of painting and other art projects.

Helen Williamson

Helen spent her 20’s and early 30’s working as a pharmacist, playing lots of golf and travelling the world. As one of the ex-provincial golfers in our group, Helen still plays a mean game of golf and her competitive, fun spirit often comes to the fore during our annual golf weekends. She was employed by Discovery in 1999 as a Health Specialist for the KZN region and that started her career in the financial sector.

In 2004 she completed her Post Graduate Diploma in Financial Planning. This saw her in good standing as Discovery expanded, adding Life Insurance, Investment and Insure to their stable.

Since 2015 Helen has been working as an Independent Financial Advisor and has her own business called Williamson Financial Planning. Helen’s ethos is “I trust that my knowledge and experience will guide me to offer my clients Sound Financial Advice to protect them from, and prepare them for all Life changing events!”

As a passionate animal lover, Helen has adopted many cats and dogs in need of a caring home and also the Great Dames involved in animal caring projects.

Rene

Rene Ladell

Rene loves golf!
She enjoys playing the game as much as she does the company of the golfing girls of KZN.  In her retirement, she has the freedom to play golf at other courses more often – not just at Royal Durban (her home course for the past 30 years). Rene has also been involved in the administration of golf:- she spent many years as the Financial Manager at Royal Durban as well as serving a term as the President of the Ladies section.

Rene is dedicated to her children and grandchildren and has spent many hours doing the books of Afcon Industrial Equipment – her husband’s successful aircon and refrigeration business.  Rene and Mike have handed the reins of the business to the next generation allowing them to spend more time doing the things they love.
